The number of pubs and clubs in our area is slowly diminishing and the traditional Working Mens clubs have disappeared completely.
We have lost the Alexander Club, the White Rose, the Crown, The White Lion, The New Inn, The Beech all on Tong Road. The Nook on the Heights. The Royal Oak on Silver Royd Hill.
The Horse & Groom has been now been bought by Sandhu Singh who owns the William IV.
My local the Nags Head has a For Lease sign on the building and the Ranby's no longer run the Oldfield.
At the moment Punch Taverns
are having all their Pubs valued, (more pubs going up for sale?)
Another one may bite the dust, the Butterbowl has now been put up for sale (A Punch Tavern, how many more?)
It would appear that Public Houses are being 'Centralised' into the City Centres, where they are more easily contained. Big Brother or what?
